York County: Don’t miss these events!

  • You are invited to meet York’s new police chief! The city of York is hosting a reception for Andy Robinson at 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4,  at City Hall, 10 N. Roosevelt St. The public is invited.
  • Metabolic Makeover registration begins today, Jan. 3, Fort Mill and Gold Hill YMCAs. This 12-week course includes personal training three times a week (36 sessions), exercise accountability, food journaling, grocery store tours and more.   • Auditions are gearing up for The Yorkville Players’ version of “Dorothy Meets Alice” by Joseph Robinette. This new version of the delightful meeting of two of literature’s most famous young ladies unfolds when a young man puts off a book report till the last minute, then suddenly finds himself in a strange place somewhere between Oz and Wonderland.  Auditions will be held at the McCelvey Center, 212 E.   • Support your local farmers! Aaron Newton, author of “A Nation of Farmers: Defeating the Food Crisis on American Soil,” and local farmers will talk about eating locally.
