Ikea is a dream come true for people with young kids. When mine were toddlers, we lived in Maryland, land of the snow and gray skies. We’d zip down to Ikea and spend the afternoon. They have a great play area for kids (Mom, you can drop them off! And the staff entertains them! And you can sit quietly and have a cup of coffee by yourself!), plus my darlings loved just looking at all the cool stuff they sell.
Their cafeteria-style restaurant actually has terrific food. Try the salmon filet, the organic pasta w/ organic sauce (only $1.99), or even their 99-cent breakfast.
And now, through Monday, July 5, kids under 12 get a free kids meal (meatballs, PB&J or mac and cheese, plus a drink, kids yogurt, cookies). There’s no adult meal purchase required.
Plus, college students get $2 off entrees, there are daily meal deals (Mondays: roast chicken with mashed potatoes for $1.99; different deals each day), and they’re having a crayfish party in August!
When you’re full, don’t miss the rest of the store. As Martha would say, it’s a good thing.
